The final result of last month's closely contested primary election of the
ruling Partido Colorado will not be released by the party's electoral tribunal (TEP)
on 10 January as planned. The main reason is that all bar one of the TEP members
and alternates have been recused by either President Nicanor Duarte's faction of
the party, which is backing Blanca Ovelar, or the faction that backs Luis
Castiglioni's candidacy. The recusals must be resolved by the TEP, but since
only one of its members has yet to be disqualified, the session to discuss them
cannot be held. All of which means that the final result of the primary could be
delayed indefinitely.End of preview - This article contains approximately 356 words.
